Our Father God sent His only Son Jesus to die on the Cross to redeem us and by our belief in Jesus, from our hearts, we are saved. This gives us our New Identity as adopted son and daughters of God. We are never again called sinners in the Bible. New Identity Ministry is focused on helping people connect to all the fullness of life that God has for them. So we meet in small groups and mentor individuals in following the pattern of “The Four Streams.”
A Christian’s New Identity is confirmed in many scriptures, here are just a few.
- Matthew 5:48 “In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity”. MSG or “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” NKJV
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!” NLT or “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” NKJV
- Galatians 6:15 “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation.” NIV or “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.” NKJV
These scriptures establish and clarify our God created New Identity. So we perceive in these verses a person is created new, and yet we are still residing in the flesh until Jesus returns. We are inwardly, spiritually and irrevocably made new, the sin nature is removed. So with our newly created life we have our New Identity in Christ.
We also recognize that we are on this journey together, we have not yet arrived, and each of us are at different places on the journey. So we give grace to everyone for where they are in whatever degree they have learned to walk in their New Identity.
